Liposuction Recovery Timeline

Liposuction recovery timeline is the most important part of planning your surgery. Lipo patients must know every detail of their recovery process because recovery is the time that your body is going to do a lot of healing after the surgery.

Recovery process is an important part of your Liposuction procedure which can affect the final result. So, if you plan to have a liposuction with Flora, knowing the details of recovery is so helpful. During this period you may need to take some specific measures and do some instructions to smooth the healing process. Our experts will help and take care of you during this highly essential process. Also, they will inform you about the recovery timeline and the latest information through the CRM system, on a regular basis (same as for liposuction day by day trip plan). 1-Liposuction Recovery Timeline Day 1, right after the surgery

Usually, a liposuction surgery does not need hospitalization but if your surgeon deems it necessary, you will stay at the hospital overnight. Our medical team will help you with all you need on the first day and during your stay in Iran. They will provide you with compression garments or elastic bandages, medications and hospital pack prior to the surgery. and anything else you may require. You can also call our experts at the specified numbers to ask any questions you have in mind. Flora’s specialists will be ready to visit you at your hotel to check you on in case of your request. You must limit your activity level but walking slowly inside your hotel room can be beneficial. Walking reduces the risk of forming a thrombus (or blood clot).

Compression garment

A necessary component of a Lipo surgery is a compression garment or elastic bandages. The garment/bandage will be wrapped around the treated area. The compression garment must be custom ordered prior to the procedure. The compression garment is very useful in reducing swelling and contouring your body to its new shape. After around six weeks from the surgery, you will no longer need to wear the compression garment.

Small drains

As your doctor deems it necessary, small drains may be placed at the surgical sites. These drains can prevent the accumulation of fluid around the incisions under the skin. Thus, drains avoid the consequent slowing down of the healing process. Using these small drains can also improve the results of your procedure, but they may require some special care Your surgeon will tell you how to care and how long you should keep them.

2-Liposuction Recovery Timeline, Week 1

While staying in Iran, the first week of your recovery process will be strictly observed by Flora’s specialists. Also, the doctor will visit you when deems it necessary.

Bruising, redness and swelling

It’s common to see some bruising, redness and swelling in the treated area. The compression garment can also be a useful tool in order to help reduce swelling and promote healing. Swelling usually goes down by the end of the first week; but you may have to continue wearing your compression garment until week six as instructed.

Medication

Your surgeon will prescribe some medications and consumables that you need to use for a certain period of time. We will provide all the necessary items which include Antibiotics (such as Cefixime, Gentamicin, Cephalosporin, etc.), pain management medications, a bottle of rinse solution, injections (Corticosteroids, Neurobionics, etc.), sterile gauze rolls and surgical tape rolls.

Walking

Doing mild physical activities such as walking in the first week of your operation can bring some benefits. This will help the process of healing and reduce the risk of blood clots. While moving around after surgery can be beneficial, you must avoid doing anything vigorous during the first week.

In-flight care

Before flying back to home, you will spend a week in Iran. Besides enjoying visiting Iran, this period will help avoid the increased risk of developing deep vein thrombosis (DVT), or blood clot formation within the blood vessels during the flight. Wearing compression garments during the flight will also improve blood flow and encourage circulation in the lower limbs.

Discomfort

You can expect to feel a moderate pain after performing the procedure. In order to reduce the pain and ease your discomfort, your doctor may prescribe some medications.

Sleeping position

One of the important factors of the healing process is getting plenty of sleep in the first few weeks. But you need to be careful about your sleeping position such as avoiding lying flat while sleeping. Since you will not be able sleep on your stomach, find the most comfortable position on your back. Recliners are also a good choice which helps to ensure that there is no pressure on your treated areas. While sleeping, your head must be slightly lifted with the knees up and the buttocks down.

Discomfort

You can expect to feel a moderate pain after performing the procedure. In order to reduce the pain and ease your discomfort, your doctor may prescribe some medications. Moreover, our agents will take care of preparing your medications or as instructed by your doctor.

3-Liposuction Recovery Timeline, Week 2

After going back to your country, during week 2 you will notice a significant reduction in pain and soreness. By the end of the first week, swelling usually starts to fade; but you should still keep the compression garments warped around the treated site. Many people can return back to work by the end of the second week. But if you have a particularly psychical job which includes strenuous activities you will require some more time to recover.

4-Liposuction Recovery Timeline, Month 1

After around one month from the procedure, patients typically no longer feel pain or soreness. You may still see swelling in the treated area, but it will be reduced to a great extent. At this point, your results will also begin to be visible. But you may need some more time for the swelling to fully fade and see the end results. After a month break, most people are able to resume light exercise, but they should still keep away from any heavy activity.

5-Liposuction Recovery Timeline, Month 2-3

By the second month, the majority of bruising and swelling should have subsided. It may take several months for the swelling to resolve and the ultimate results of the liposuction are completely revealed. Moreover, you can stop wearing your compression garments at this point,. Your activity levels will no longer go back to normal unless your doctor sees otherwise.

6-Liposuction Recovery Timeline, Month 4-6

After four to six months up to one year, swelling will have fully perished. At this time you will be able to see the final results of your surgery. Also, you will be able to resume any activity including heavy and strenuous ones.

7-Advised Diet in Liposuction Recovery Timeline

No doubt that a good diet plays a role in facilitating the recovery after liposuction. Patients who maintain a good diet will experience less swelling and will have a sooner recovery. In order to help your healing process you need to get vitamins, antioxidants, and other useful nutrients To have a good liposuction with the best results, a healthy diet is a must. Below are a list of drinks, foods, and nutrients supplements which can contribute to your body’s health regaining.

Drinks

Drink lots of water; as it’s the most important liquid to help your body recover after liposuction. After liposuction, you should increase the amount of water you drink from 8 to 10-12 glasses per day. Drinking tea, diluted fruit juice, or skim milk can also be a good way to provide your body with enough liquid to get back to normal. Also, you should avoid sodium-containing liquids like Gatorade.

Foods

You may go on a low-sodium diet such as beef, lamb, pork, poultry and fish during the recovery period. Foods and vegetables are also low in sodium and thus prove helpful to your body recovery. It’s also highly recommended to get a good amount of vitamins and nutrients since they can help your healing process.

Nutrients supplements

It’s better to get some advice from your doctor regarding the useful Nutrients supplements. These may include using a high-quality multivitamin as a supplement to provide your body with magnesium, vitamin D, and vitamin B12.

There are also certain drinks and foods which you should avoid during the recovery period. These drinks and foods which we listed below can adversely affect the healing process and worsen the final results.

Alcohol

Alcohol is the most destructive liquid after liposuction surgery. You should not drink alcohol for at least one week following your procedure. Alcoholic beverages can have a negative interaction with some of the medications and can also cause dehydration.

Salt

Avoid salty or processed foods as much as you can. The sodium in salt is prone to cause inflammation which can increase swelling.

Sugar and saturated fat

Sugar and saturated fat contain low amounts of vitamins and nutrients needed in order for your body to heal. They can also cause weight gain, which can negatively impact your lipo results.

8-Daily Activities in Liposuction Recovery Timeline

You will most probably be able to resume many of your activities after around two weeks from your lipo surgery. But some activities which are heavy and demanding may require more time. Following is a list of activities with the detailed timing of each after the surgery.

Moving after surgery

After around 24, some light exercises such as taking a short walk can speed up your healing process. These light exercises will also help reduce the risk of blood clots in the part which has undergone liposuction. You should follow your doctor’s detailed instructions about when you can resume physical activities of any level.

Getting back to work

Most patients are able to go back to work after around two weeks from the surgery. But this also depends on the type of job and level of physical activity you have. If your job is a highly strenuous one, you may need some more time up to 3 months.

Sexual activities

Getting back to your normal sexual activities is quite possible after four weeks; but depending on the treated area you may be recommended to wait a bit longer. It follows that removing excess fat on large areas of your thighs, belly, and/or buttocks can take longer to resume your normal sexual activities than a liposuction of chin, on the backs of your knees, or your upper arms.

Smoking

It is better to stop smoking prior to and after their liposuction procedure; you should not smoke for at least 2 weeks prior to surgery and 2 weeks after surgery.

Taking a shower

For most patients it is possible to take a light shower within 2 to 3 days after liposuction. But this shower does not include bathing, as the incisions are still vulnerable to infection.

Driving

As you should not drive home after a liposuction procedure, you will be using Flora’s VIP transfer during your first week of staying in Iran. After you have come back to your home, you will have no problem getting back to your normal driving.

Sleeping

Get plenty of sleeping mostly in the first two weeks following your surgery. You should also avoid lying flat while sleeping and find the best position while lying on your back.

9-Exercising in Liposuction Recovery Timeline

Running

Do not to jump back to your routine running after the surgery. After three weeks you may start running at about 25 percent your previous intensity and then increase the intensity step by step.

Aerobic & Cardio

Wait at least three to five weeks depending on sensitivity before resuming your aerobic activity. In order to get good results, you will need to maintain an exercise program.

Lifting

After 2 to three weeks patients can get back into weight lifting, aerobics and running at a controlled level. But it is beneficial to begin exercising at 25 percent of their usual workouts and increase the tension gradually.

Swimming and contact sport

Though Swimming has a low impact, it may present a risk of infection to healing incisions. So stay out of the pool from 4 up to 6 weeks from the surgery.

The most important part of your recovery is to observe the dos and don’ts on their certain time. Considering that we will inform you about the exact details of your recovery timeline through the CRM system for 2 years, you can pass this process perfectly.
